Old Town Artists member Ron Duffy will have a one-artist show at the Boynton Health Center, University of Minnesota, October 3 -- November 18 . The show, Intuitive Painting, Chronic Illness, and Healing,  features original paintings by Ron. The opening reception is October 5, 2011, 5:30 p.m.–7 p.m. Ron will present a brief talk on his work at 5:45 p.m. The Health Center asks that you RSVP if you intend to attend the opening. RSVP to

The show is free and open to the public and is in the Boynton Health Service Third Floor Gallery.  It is open Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.

Because of road construction Ron provided these directions to the Boynton Health Center.

Directions provided by from Ron Duffy.  If you get lost, blame me!
I am a direction challenged person, offering you directions!

There is significant road construction near the U of M.  To get to Boynton Health Services Building I suggest these directions:

From I-94:
Take the Huron Blvd. exit. Turn left onto Fulton St. SE.  After about 4 blocks, Fulton St. SE merges and becomes East River Parkway (or Road). Follow East River Parkway for about .2 mile, and look for the East River Road Garage on the right.

From I-35W:
Take the University Ave. SE exit, and go east.  Follow University Ave. SE to 14th Ave. SE.  Turn right onto 14th Ave. SE.  As soon as you make the turn, 14th Ave. SE becomes East River Parkway (or Road).  Follow East River Parkway for about .8 mile and look for the East River Road Garage on the left.

I’m parked in the East River Road Garage.  Now what?
Find the elevator.  Take the elevator to “Level 1 / Coffman Union / Street Access.  (Inside the elevator select the button that says “Level 1 / Plaza.”)  Step out of the elevator, go out the maroon colored door.  You will see a grassy plaza.  Head across the grassy plaza, going east.  (At the end of the grassy plaza you will be looking at the back of the Boynton Health Services Building, which has a sign and lots of green leaves growing on the back wall.)  The street you are walking along is Delaware St.  Go east on Delaware St. for about a block.  You will come to the intersection of Delaware St. SE and Church St. SE.  Boynton Health Services Building is located at the intersection of Delaware and Church St.  The street level is actually the 3rd floor of the Boynton Health Services building.  Enter the lobby.  The 3rd floor gallery is located just off the lobby, through a door marked “Patient Accounting / Student Health Benefits Office.”  This door is right next to the Information and Referrals desk in the lobby.

About the 3rd Floor Gallery at U of M Boynton Health Services Building
The 3rd Floor Gallery is the wall space of two intersecting hallways that form a “T.”  This hallway gets a lot of traffic from university staff and students.  U of M Boynton Health Services has fabulous art pieces hanging everywhere on the walls of each floor level in the building.  I see this as a wonderful testament to the philosophy of “Art Contributes to Healing.”

Tracie Thompson will be completing a dog portrait at the Bark and Roll event tomorrow

Old Town Artists member Tracie Thompson will be participating in the Bark and Roll event tomorrow, Saturday, September 24, at Mears Park from 10 am to 3 pm.  Tracy will be painting a portrait of Major, a Roseville police dog who was crippled in the line of duty last year. She will also be offering a certificate for a custom animal portrait drawing (similar to the one of Ally, shown below) in the Silent Auction to benefit Home for Life
More information on the event is on the Bark and Roll event website and from the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
